This week we will finish the section on rational functions on Monday. We will then use Tuesday to prepare for the chapter test on Wednesday (which will cover sections 2.1-2.5). On Thursday we will take the AMC 10 or 12 (depending on the student's current grade level) in class.

This week we will be testing on Monday for Chapter 1 topics. For the rest of the week we will be working through Chapter 2 on polynomial and rational functions. This will, for the most part, be review of topics covered in Math 3 with some extensions. I expect that we will be moving quite quickly through this chapter, though probably not as quickly as we covered Chapter 1.
This week we will be finishing the remainder of Chapter 1, including combinations of functions, transformations of functions, and finally learning about some families of functions. We will need to test on the topics of Chapter 1 on Monday, but since we will finish the chapter by Wednesday we will be moving on to Chapter 2 for Thursday and Friday.
Welcome back from a sort of "second break!" Hopefully the snow days offered the students time to relax and study for the Math 3 NCFE. They have taken that exam this morning and will have results early this week (the online format of the test provides very quick feedback!). Even though the end of the quarter has been officially extended to this Friday, I will be moving on to pre-calculus topics this week. We will begin be reviewing some basics about linear and quadratic functions and becoming comfortable with the new text. We will not be testing this week, but we will have a quiz next week (Monday or Tuesday) on the topics we cover this week.
Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a restful break. We are in the final stretch for Math 3 content. We will be finishing the last topic on Monday (statistical studies and margin of error) and we will take a quiz on this topic on Wednesday. The rest of the week will be dedicated to review material to prepare for the NCFE next Friday (1/19).
This week we will be taking the released items from the NCFE, which is fast approaching (the students will be taking it on January 19th). I am not using the released items as a graded assessment, but rather to collect data on what needs to be focused on in our test preparation weeks when we come back from break. We are also studying for (on Tuesday) and taking (on Wednesday) the test on trigonometric functions. The winter break begins this Thursday, so I will see everyone again in the new year. Enjoy the much needed break!
This week we will finish exploration of the properties of circles, which we will have a quiz on this Wednesday. Then we will work with the equation of a circle and learn how to find arc lengths by using relationships between central angles, radii, and arcs. There will be a unit test on all circle topics next week (date to be determined).
I have finally uploaded the homework from 12-2 and 12-3 that was assigned before break. Due to my late posting, I will accept this homework on Tuesday instead of the Monday due date originally given.
For the 12-2 practice worksheet, complete the even numbered problems except for #12. For the 12-3 worksheet, complete the odd numbered problems except for #17. We did not go far enough into the circles unit to have a quiz before break. Therefore, we will simply continue work on studying circles. The focus this short week will be on properties of chords and inscribed angles.
After completing our work on geometric solids (surface area and volume) on Monday, we will have our test on the rational functions and centers of triangles on Tuesday. We will finishing reviewing solids on Wednesday and have a quiz on those topics on Thursday. We will finish this week by beginning work on circles and may get far enough to have a short quiz before break next week.
