Due to some struggle with proof writing this past week, the test that was planned for this week is postponed until Wednesday of next week (2/21) to allow us some more time to review. We will use the time on Wednesday this week to review, but we will need to move on to our next unit before taking the test on this unit. The next unit is about properties of triangles and triangle congruence theorems.

This week we will continue with the topics that we introduced on Thursday last week. We will review the vocabulary for angles formed by a transversal and then look at the relationships between these angles when the lines cut by the transversal are parallel.
This week we will be MAP testing in the beginning of the week. We will get back to instruction by Wednesday and will be working through the topics of lines intersected by a transversal and the angles formed. We will have a quiz on Friday covering the topics covered last week and reviewed this week (properties, postulates, and proofs for algebra, angles, and line segments). We will have our first test for the third quarter next week (date TBD, but likely Thursday).
Welcome back, again! Hopefully we will be able to get back into our rhythm and be uninterrupted until spring break. After a brief look into the topic of growth mindset as it applies to learning mathematics, this week we will continue where we left off exploring properties of lines and angles to prepare us for our unit on triangles. There will be a quiz on Friday for this week's material.
Welcome back from break! We had a slight delay to our return due to weather, but we are now back. This week students will be working on a poster project (quiz grade) to explore properties of graphs. They will be completing the posters on Tuesday and presenting on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday we will begin our geometry unit on patterns of lines and angles, which will eventually lead to a study of triangles.
This week we are reviewing for the radicals and rational exponents quiz on Tuesday. As part of review we are also learning good test preparation strategies. The week is a short one with no school on Thursday or Friday. See you all when we get back in the new year!
We will be continuing our second unit on transformations this week, covering topics of transformation composition, identifying congruence transformations, and dialations. There will be a quiz on Thursday or Friday (to me announced). The test on this unit will be late next week (date to be determined).
A two day week! We are taking the test on Monday for the first part of the transformations unit (on translations, reflections, and rotations). On Tuesday we will cover symmetry, and we are on break for the rest of the week.
This week we are taking the Noetic Math Competition test on Monday and the AMC 8 competition test on Tuesday. Neither are for a grade (just for fun!). The rest of the week we will be continuing work on our transformations unit. We will be finishing our exploration of reflections and then we will explore rotations. We will have a test on Monday next week (11/20) on what we have covered with transformations so far (translations, reflections, and rotations).
This week we will be taking the test on radical expressions and rational exponents over two days, Tuesday and Thursday. We discussed this change as a class and decided that splitting the test over the two days would reduce the amount everyone needed to study for each part of the test. For the rest of the week we will be introducing the next topic, inverse variation.
